Theme: I Will Give You Rest (a special Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon retreat)

Life in service to Jesus and his Kingdom is both freeing and exhausting.  In ministry to/with the Church, our cups “runneth over,” even as we are poured out and rendered empty.  So Jesus invites us to come to him, all whose burdens are heavy; in Christ, we find rest for our souls.  This Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon silent retreat is a sabbath offering for those with commitments on weekends, and for anyone seeking rest. 

Leader: After 15 years of ministry with the Church of the Saviour community,  Becca Vargas returned to the Lutheran denomination (ELCA) where she serves as a pastor in Maryland.  Her practice of the inward and outward journeys, together with her experiences of ministry with people coming home from incarceration, has deepened her commitment to restorative justice in the context of faith communities.

This retreat runs from Sunday dinner through Tuesday lunch. The silence begins Sunday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The group will gather for brief morning and evening reflections by the leader on Monday. The silence ends after breakfast Tuesday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.

The cost for weekend retreats is $325.  A $150 deposit is required to register.

Dinner on Sunday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Sunday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Tuesday.  Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
