Theme: “Incline the Ear of your Heart”
The Rule of Saint Benedict begins with an invitation: “Listen carefully, … and incline the ear of your heart.” The heart is the still point of our being where we are one with ourselves, with all other creatures, and with the boundless Love that creates and sustains all things. To incline the ear of the heart is to dispose ourselves to listen to the Word calling, healing, and transforming us in the luminous vastness of the present. On this silent retreat we will seek to hearken to Love’s voice in the sensuousness and beauty of the world and the deep intimacy of prayerful community, and to discern how we are drawn to respond to Love’s call in our lives.
Leader: Robert S. (Robin) Seiler, Jr., is a psychotherapist in private practice in College Park, MD, and an experienced leader of contemplative prayer groups and retreats.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief morning and evening reflections on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
The cost for weekend retreats is $300. A $150 deposit is required to register.
Dinner on Friday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Friday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Sunday. Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
