Spiritual Resilience: Cultivating Joy, Deep Listening, and Courage – A Weekend Retreat

Theme – Spiritual Resilience: Cultivating Joy, Deep Listening, and Courage. This fall retreat explores how we might build our spiritual resilience for the times in which find ourselves. It will focus on increasing our capacity for joy, deep listening, and courage—three elements that can shape a path forward in times of transition and ground us in times where we need to be steady where we are. How do we live from intention instead of reaction? How to balance our inner and outer journeys in a world with so many needs? Using Scripture, poetry, and readings, and drawing on the natural world around us, this retreat offers tools to discern your current place, and greet the way ahead with openness. Embrace this spacious time to discern what the Spirit is doing in your own journey.
Leader: Dee Dee Risher is a poet and writer whose path was fundamentally altered by her encounter with the Church of the Saviour (and Dayspring) at age 21, almost four decades ago. She authored The Soulmaking Room, and edited The Other Side and Conspire! Magazines. She has worked at Project HOME in Philadelphia, and lives at the Vine & Fig Tree Community in Philadelphia.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief morning and evening reflections on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
The cost for weekend retreats is $300. A $150 deposit is required to register.
Dinner on Friday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Friday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Sunday. Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
