The Irish celebration of Imbolc occurs on February 1^st each year, the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Imbolc means “in the belly” and is a festival that honors the Celtic goddess, Brigid, along with the arrival of Spring and newborn lambs. February 1^st is also the feast day of St. Brigid, the female patron saint of Ireland. Stories, myths, and legends of these two powerful women have blurred over the centuries, strengthening the wisdom they have to offer us today.

At Dayspring, February 1^st is far more likely to feel like Winter than Spring! But if we look closely, we notice the days are getting longer, the sun seems brighter, and a few enthusiastic green stems are poking up in warm places. On this early February retreat, we will listen with Brigid to the new life gestating within us and yearning to come forth with Spring energy from the depths of our souls.

Leader:  Lorie Conway is a spiritual director, and contemplative group and retreat leader. She works with Well for the Journey and the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation.

Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.

You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats.

The cost for weekend retreats is $275.  A $125 deposit is required to register.

Dinner on Friday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Friday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Sunday.  Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
